With the three-part evening Triple, Richard Siegal draws a connection between his internationally successful ballets of recent years and his recently created work with the Ballet of Difference in his new artistic home, Cologne.

Concealed under the title ALL FOR ONE, the 20-minute opening sequence of TWO FOR THE SHOW danced on point was premiered by Richard Siegal in April 2021. On the opulently radiant stage set, which Siegal developed together with the lighting designer Matthias Singer, and in Flora Miranda’s futuristic costumes, the unbroken belief in the power of art is formulated.

METRIC DOZEN, originally created for the Marseille National Ballet, is perhaps one of Siegal’s fastest ballets: breathlessly, with almost inhuman timing, the dancers whirl through the nightclub-esque darkness of the stage and offer an insight into »the future of dance«. (Süddeutsche Zeitung)

With MY GENERATION, which the US choreographer staged for Cedar Lake in New York in 2015, the finale becomes a sprawling party in fashion designer Bernhard Wilhelm’s loud costumes. Musically formulated as a tongue in cheek critique of the pop industry, the choreography charges into a kind of »flashing electricity« (New York Times) »a monstrous high, that you hope will never end.« (Huffington Post).

Mit dem dreiteiligen Abend TRIPLE zieht Richard Siegal eine Verbindungslinie zwischen seinen internationalen Erfolgsballetten der letzten Jahre und einer jüngst entstandenen Arbeit mit dem Ballet of Difference in Köln. Unter dem Titel ALL FOR ONE verbirgt sich die auf Spitze getanzte Eingangssequenz von TWO FOR THE SHOW, die Richard Siegal im April 2021 zur Premiere gebracht hat. Auf dem opulent strahlenden Bühnenbild und in den futuristischen Kostümen formuliert sich der ungebrochene Glaube an die Kraft der Kunst. METRIC DOZEN, ursprünglich für das Ballet National de Marseille kreiert, gilt als Siegals vielleicht rasantestes Ballett: Atemlos, mit geradezu unmenschlichem Timing, wirbeln die Tänzer*innen durch das clubbige Dunkel der Bühne und geben den Blick frei in »die Zukunft des Tanzes« (Süd- deutsche Zeitung). Das Finale wird mit MY GENERATION, das der US-Choreograf 2015 für Cedar Lake/New York inszeniert hat, zu einer ausufernden Party in den knalligen Kostümen des Modeschöpfers Bernhard Wilhelm. Musikalisch als augenzwinkernde Kritik an der Pop-Industrie formuliert, wird die Choreografie zu einem »monströsen High, von dem man hofft, dass es nie enden wird« (Huffington Post).
