The registered, non-profit association “Freunde und Förderer des Ballet of Difference” (BoD Friends) supports Richard Siegal and his dancers. With our work, we want to highlight and emphasize the importance of the BoD ensemble for Cologne and the region in such a way that the cultural life of Cologne and the Rhineland can no longer be imagined without it. It is thus our declared goal to establish Richard Siegal and his Ballet of Difference permanently in Cologne. We are firmly convinced that the creative energy and groundbreaking work of Richard Siegal and his dancers is a great and indispensable enrichment for our city and far beyond. For BoD, “difference” and “diversity” are not just fashionable buzzwords, but rather a lived reality and a model for a better, more diverse, and inclusive urban culture.
With membership fees and donations, we support and make possible specific BoD projects: from auditions in other cities and countries to find new talent for the BoD ensemble, to workshops for the dancers with proven experts in various fields, to study trips for the ensemble to learn from other dance traditions, especially in non-European countries.
But Richard Siegal and his ensemble are not the only focus of our work. Members also benefit from the activities of the BoD friends: from practical and theoretical workshops for children, teenagers, and adults, to exclusive stage and dress rehearsals, to insightful conversations entre nous with Richard Siegal and his dancers.
